Rustam khan

Running for: Area Chief Steward, Sloan/SHASS

I am a 6th year Ph.D. Candidate in the MIT Program in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society (HASTS). My dissertation explores hip hop, migration, and urban political-economy in modern Europe. I have been working as a department steward and campus mobilizer with GSU since its formal establishment in 2022. I’m running on the BOLD slate for Area Chief Steward in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Sloan School of Management, and I am particularly advocating for protection for international students and workers like myself, transparent and robust grievance procedures for academic related issues, institutional clarity on and commitment to ethical research practices at MIT, and housing and mental health support.
